HE Ivo Ivanovski

Short Biography

H.E. Ivo Ivanovski M.Sc , was born in Bitola on January 10th, 1978. In 2001 he received his bachelor degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio, USA. He continued his education at the Franklin University where he received his master’s degree in computer sciences in 2003.

Before he was appointed as Minister of Information Society, he was an IT Manager for “Plaskolite Incorporated”, one of the largest private Plexiglas producers in the world.y.

He began his career in 1997 as a specialist in computer equipment technical support. Later, he was promoted to an IT Manager position in the sector for computer technology development and maintenance. His responsibilities as IT Manager were to bring the best business value of the IT investment, to balance the IT budget, to align the investments to the company’s business strategy, to provide high level of services and improve the overall the company’s operational capabilities.

Over the eleven-year stay in the USA, Mr. Ivanovski was an active member of the Macedonian-American Friendship Association, as well as a member of the Steering Committee of the Macedonian church ‘Mother of God's Falling Asleep’ (St. Mary) in Columbus. Also, he is an advisor to the political party of VMRO-DPMNE, President on matters related to information technology and economy. The Minister speaks fluent English, Serbian and Croat.

On December 21st, 2006, Mr. Ivanovski was appointed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia and elected by the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, as a Minister without portfolio, in charge of information society development.

On August 1st 2008, was appointed to be a Minister of Information Society for a second term.

He is also a member in several multinational organizations:

  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Global Alliance for ICT development by the United Nations (April 2009 - present)
  • Member of the Advisory ICANN Corp. (Corporation for Assigned Internet services Names and Numbers) (September 2009 – present)
  • Commissioner in the Broadband Commission for digital development of the International Telecommunications Union (June 2010 - present)
